Summary

Return to the house on Tradd Street for one last time as the bestselling series featuring psychic medium Melanie Trenholm comes to a hauntingly spectacular finale。

After the devastating events of the past few months, the last thing Melanie Trenholm wants is to think about the future。 Why, when her husband, Jack, has asked for a separation—a separation that might have been her fault? Nevertheless, with twin toddlers, a stepdaughter leaving for college soon, a real estate career to resume and a historic home that is still being restored, Melanie doesn’t have much time to wonder where it all went wrong—but that doesn’t stop her from trying to win her husband back。

Their relationship issues are pushed aside, however, when longtime nemesis, Marc Longo, comes to them with a proposition: allow their Tradd Street house to be used as the filming location for the movie adaptation of Marc’s bestselling book, and he will help Jack re-establish his stalled writing career。 Despite Melanie’s hesitation, Jack jumps at the chance。 But Melanie’s doubts soon prove to be well founded when she uncovers ulterior reasons for Marc wanting to be back in their house—reasons that include a hidden gem so brilliant that legend links it to the most infamous jewel of all, the Hope Diamond。

But Melanie has an unexpected ally in protecting the house and its inhabitants—the ghost of a Civil War era girl warns her of increasing threats to her family。 But she’s not the only spirit who is haunting Melanie。 A malevolent ghost seems determined to stop Melanie from investigating the decades-old murder of a friend’s sister, and this spirit will stop at nothing to protect its secrets—even from beyond the grave。

Melanie and Jack must work together to find the answers before evil spirits of past and present destroy everything they love。

Spectacular end to one of my favorite series。 So much packed in these pages。 Love how she went deep to the core of Melanie and Jack’s character’s and relationship as she brought things full circle。 Looking forward to Nola and the spin-off series。

This book is a swan song for Jack and Melanie, a hearkening back to the early books。 Is it the greatest in the series? No。 But a fitting ending, and I look forward to the spin-off。

I devoured this series in one month。 However, I don't know if I would recommend it even though I tore through it。 The characters are exasperating but relatable。As flawed as Mellie is I think Jack was infuriating in this book。 She deserved better than what she got from him。 I devoured this series in one month。 However, I don't know if I would recommend it even though I tore through it。 The characters are exasperating but relatable。As flawed as Mellie is I think Jack was infuriating in this book。 She deserved better than what she got from him。 。。。more

I listened to the audiobook of the first installment of this series。 I liked the characters and storyline of the first book and was not disappointed by the last book。 Not having read numbers 2 through 6, I had to familiarize myself with several new characters。 White did a good job of making that an easy task。 I look forward to reading Karen White's new series; it takes place in New Orleans with Beau and Nola as the feature characters。 I listened to the audiobook of the first installment of this series。 I liked the characters and storyline of the first book and was not disappointed by the last book。 Not having read numbers 2 through 6, I had to familiarize myself with several new characters。 White did a good job of making that an easy task。 I look forward to reading Karen White's new series; it takes place in New Orleans with Beau and Nola as the feature characters。 。。。more

good book to wrap up the series。 Despite her protestations, I assume there may be another book in this series sometime in the future。 They are so much fun。

This is the last book in the Tradd Street series。 I liked it, but I felt the author took too much time recapping all that had previously transpired。 I solved the mystery of "the tall man" long before the end of the book。 I do love the characters in this series, and can't wait for the spin off books。 This is the last book in the Tradd Street series。 I liked it, but I felt the author took too much time recapping all that had previously transpired。 I solved the mystery of "the tall man" long before the end of the book。 I do love the characters in this series, and can't wait for the spin off books。 。。。more

I'm sad to see this series end, but I happy that we will see some of the Tradd Street characters in Karen White's next series based in New Orleans。 I'm sad to see this series end, but I happy that we will see some of the Tradd Street characters in Karen White's next series based in New Orleans。 。。。more

The end of an unexpected but well-loved seriesI'm one of the many followers of the Trade Street series。 And I pre-ordered the first of the new series as soon as I saw that it was available for pre-order。 Karen White doesn't let us down。 The books are interesting with enough twists and turns to keep us guessing。 If you like the first book, you'll like those that follow, especially this one。 The end of an unexpected but well-loved seriesI'm one of the many followers of the Trade Street series。 And I pre-ordered the first of the new series as soon as I saw that it was available for pre-order。 Karen White doesn't let us down。 The books are interesting with enough twists and turns to keep us guessing。 If you like the first book, you'll like those that follow, especially this one。 。。。more

I don't like Jack, and that's the end of it。 He doesn't trust Melanie because she doesn't tell him EVERYTHING, yet he hides things from her。 In this book, he keeps leading her on that he loves her and wants to save their marriage, drawing her in and then pushing her away, saying he needs more time。 Fine。 Take all the time you need。 I'm just not going to read about it anymore。 Again, the paranormal part is skimmed over with a too-quick and easy ending。This writer used to be a great favorite。 I'm I don't like Jack, and that's the end of it。 He doesn't trust Melanie because she doesn't tell him EVERYTHING, yet he hides things from her。 In this book, he keeps leading her on that he loves her and wants to save their marriage, drawing her in and then pushing her away, saying he needs more time。 Fine。 Take all the time you need。 I'm just not going to read about it anymore。 Again, the paranormal part is skimmed over with a too-quick and easy ending。This writer used to be a great favorite。 I'm moving on。 。。。more

Overall, I enjoyed this series but I'm not sad this is the last installment。 The plot felt repetitive and hearing the same characters say the same things and seeing them make the same mistakes is just not very exciting。 Nonetheless, the ending is satisfying, everything is wrapped up nicely, and I am satisfied picturing life on Tradd Street continuing in a pleasant fashion。 Overall, I enjoyed this series but I'm not sad this is the last installment。 The plot felt repetitive and hearing the same characters say the same things and seeing them make the same mistakes is just not very exciting。 Nonetheless, the ending is satisfying, everything is wrapped up nicely, and I am satisfied picturing life on Tradd Street continuing in a pleasant fashion。 。。。more

I will miss this series so much! Karen White is a master of weaving the historical mystery and the contemporary mystery into the everyday lives of Jack, Melanie, and the family。 Throughout the series, the growth in Melanie's character has been bittersweet; I loved the neurotic, plan-everything-down-to-the-minute personality but I love her just as much as a much more subdued wife and mother。 Each character is so well crafted that they feel like family and it is so difficult to say goodbye。 The my I will miss this series so much! Jack and Mellie at their best。 I immediately contacted my three sisters to read this book。 The depth of their relationship was so real and amazing。 Again the mystery twist and turns were one of her best story lines 。History, ghosts and bad guy revenge。 Fantastic book。。if I wasn't reading it I was listening to it in my car。 #1 read this year。 Jack and Mellie at their best。 I immediately contacted my three sisters to read this book。 The depth of their relationship was so real and amazing。 Again the mystery twist and turns were one of her best story lines 。History, ghosts and bad guy revenge。 Fantastic book。。if I wasn't reading it I was listening to it in my car。 #1 read this year。 。。。more

What a great series! I’m sorry to see it end。 This book wrapped up all of the plot lines really nicely。 Jack and Melanie (“Mellie”) are separated and it doesn’t look good, but at least you know they still really love each other。 I think that’s really at the core of this series- the fierce love that this family has for one another。 It’s what has allowed quite a few fractured relationships to mend throughout the series。 Marc Longo is up to his usual conniving and his wife Rebecca is as annoying as What a great series! This was my first Karen White novel and I really enjoyed it! This was the 7th and final book in the Tradd Street series and I was a little confused about certain parts because they talked about the previous events but I wasn’t completely lost。 I think it could be a stand alone but I would suggest reading the previous 6 first! The pacing was ok。 It was a bit slow and repetitive at points but there was still enough mystery going on to keep me entertained。 I guessed who the murderer was pretty early This was my first Karen White novel and I really enjoyed it! The end of the series。 All the loose ends are tied up。The story will spinoff to New Orleans, so we can hear of Jack and Mellie again。Nola will be all grown up with her own old house with new secrets and ghosts of course。

Melanie and Jack are working through their problems while trying to solve the cold case murder of a college student and dealing with the filming of a movie in their historic Charleston home that has the spirits upset。Seventh and final book in the series definitely best read in order。
